A preexisting kidney abnormality increases the likelihood of kidney injury after trauma.
Hydronephrosis secondary to an abnormality of the ureteropelvic junction, kidney stones, cysts, and tumors are the most frequently described entities that can complicate mild kidney injury.
They are generally discovered by radiological findings, in the study of complications resulting from infection, lithiasis, tumors, obstructive processes, etc. The treatment will be that of the accompanying processes but generally leads to nephrectomy.
