Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To present the clinical case of a patient with bilateral testicular dislocation, who underwent a right inguinal exploration plus transscrotal orchidopexy, as well as a review of the literature on this pathology.  BACKGROUND: Post-traumatic testicular dislocation was first described in 1818 by Claudry, initially described by a crush injury, but now commonly associated with automobile accidents.  Until 2003, only 55 cases had been reported, currently there are more than 200 cases described.  CLINICAL CASE: The case of a 32-year-old male patient who attended the outpatient service due to closed testicular trauma after suffering a traffic accident in which he was riding a motorcycle is presented. He indicated that after that he had inguinal pain on the right side, and when palpating the scrotal bag, only the left testicle was palpated, the patient was evaluated and the right testicle was palpated in the inguinal canal. Clinical photos are presented that show right testicular dislocation, so it is taken to the operating room to perform inguinal exploration and transscrotal orchidopexy, with satisfactory postoperative results. CONCLUSIONS: In patients who have suffered trauma with blunt abdominal or perineal injuries, testicular dislocation can easily go unnoticed. It is essential to maintain a high level of suspicion in risk groups. Those evaluating patients with traumatic injuries should be aware of this potential injury and perform a mandatory scrotal examination in patients at risk. A thorough examination in the emergency department is crucial to facilitate early diagnosis and treatment.
