Repair of Vesico-Vaginal Fistula by Laparoscopy: Initial Experience

OBJECTIVES: Report the results of patients with vesicovaginal fistula operated with a laparoscopic approach at Hospital Nacional Zacamil during the years 2021 to 2023. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective study of patients operated within 2021-2023, a total of 3 patients who underwent laparoscopic VVF repair. Analyzing history, surgical time, complications and final result. RESULTS: The mean age of 59 (50 - 76) years. Surgical time was 155 (115 – 180) minutes including trans operative cystoscopy, mean bleeding of 133 ml. Hospital stay mean of 2.7 (2 – 5) days and success rate of 100%. 1 post-surgical complication: wound infection. CONCLUSION: The laparoscopic approach is effective and safe for the repair of VVF, with high success rates, being an alternative to the open approach.
