Objectives: To present a clinical case of a patient with renal cell carcinoma in an ectopic pelvic kidney who required radical open nephrectomy at the Urology service in Hospital del Valle. Background: ectopic pelvic kidney is found in 1 of every 2150 to 3000 autopsies. Renal cell carcinoma represents 2% to 3% of adult malignant neoplasms. It is known for the highest frequency of all upper urinary tract neoplasms. Materials And Methods: We inform of a case, image studies and clinical pictures of a male, 50-year-old patient, obese, hypertensive, diabetic, nonsmoker, with no occupational exposure, presenting 2 weeks of diffuse abdominal pain, which intensity increased from moderate to severe, treated at the Urology service in Hospital del Valle. Results: The patient has evolved satisfactorily to this day, resolving his abdominal pain and presenting adequate renal function. Conclusions: The radical open nephrectomy was an adequate therapeutic intervention for this patient with ectopic pelvic kidney. A literature revision was made from all reported cases worldwide, this case being the first of its kind in Honduras and Central America.
