Objective: To describe findings and management in patients with calcified double-J catheter in the School Hospital "Dr. LENIN ANTONIO FONSECA ". MANAGUA-NICARAGUA, in the period from January to June 2017.
Material and Methods: Descriptive, observational, transversal study. Were taken into account all patients with calcified ureteral catheter attending outpatient urology department of Hospital School "Dr. Antonio Lenin Fonseca, "January to June 2017. A total of 14 patients with indwelling ureteral stent J calcified area outpatient department of urology Hospital School Antonio Lenin Fonseca in the aforementioned period, which according to gender distribution, 12 were males and 2 females, average age of 52 years and average wear J indwelling ureteral stent 12 months.
Results: By placing them in the system degrees of calcification double J catheter calcified (the FECal ureteral stent grading system), we had one in grade I, 1 degree grade II, 2 grade III, 5 grade IV and 5 grade V; endoscopically (ureterolythotripsy) and in one open extraction double-J stent is achieved a total of 12 patients, only two patients had lack of resolution in the first process, so that a second procedure is performed using the combination percutaneous endoscopic procedure and obtaining satisfactory results. Only two patients had complications after surgical procedure (emphysematous pyelonephritis and bacteremia), which were properly managed and controlled.
Conclusions: Calcification double J ureteral catheter is a serious complication in the use of these devices, it is important to closely monitor patients at high risk lithogenic.
Endourological experience management makes possible the successful resolution in a single time, even in severe calcifications.
The presence of a system of classification and management protocol ureteral catheters calcified standardizes how this phenomenon is solved, however due to limited access to all management options in our institution, should be to individualize the plan to follow in each patient.
