Introduction: Percutaneous nephrolithotricia is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used in the treatment of renal lithiasis. From its emergence until today, percutaneous surgery and the equipment used evolved greatly, incorporating modern technical and instrumental modifications. The prone position was developed and standardized for long years. After multiple investigations and clinical trials, the supine position arises as a way to access the renal cavities safely.
Objective: To present our experience in percutaneous nephrolithotricia using the modified Valdivia position.
Material and Methods: A retrospective, descriptive study of patients operated between December 2015 until April 2019, who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotricia in Valdivia position modified by diagnosis of renal lithiasis.
Results: Twenty patients with a mean age of 45 years (range 26-66 years), 12 men and 8 women were included. Five presented coraliform lithos, 6 pyelic, 8 pyelic + calicial and 1 proximal ureteral. Average size of 2.2 cm (1.8-7 cm). The estimated surgical time was an average of 152 min. Complications occurred in 20%, leaving 75% of patients free of stones.
Conclusions: According to our experience, percutaneous nephrolithotricia in modified Valdivia position is safe and effective, few complications, high success rate and with anesthesiological advantages.
