Objective: To present the case from a male patient that was brought under a radical right nephrectomy in the year 2014 who presented a contralateral relapse five years later.
Background: The relapse of renal cancer is unusual (2.5%), but its early diagnosis its very useful since the most efficient treatment is the Cytoreductive surgery. The contralateral kidney relapse is also infrequent (1.2%). The description of this kind of cases are scarce, we present image studies and pathology results.
Materials and Methods: We report a case, image studies and clinical photographs from a patient with contralateral metachronous clear cell carcinoma handled in the urology service from de Guatemalan social security institute. We performed a partial nephrectomy as the tumor characteristics viewed in the image studies allowed it.
Results: The pathology result evidence clear cell carcinoma histological grade 3 kidney limited, borders free, parenchyma and perirrenal fat free of lesion. The patient underwent a good post-surgery evolution.
Conclusion: The partial nephrectomy is a good option in nephron sparing surgery. It is necessary to keep a routine follow up to all the patients with any oncological diagnosis with periodic radiology studies. patients
