Abstract

Objective: To present a clinical case of prostate adenocarcinoma as an incidental finding in radical cystoprostatectomy

Background:  Radical cystoprostatectomy represents the most effective treatment for non-metastasic invasive muscle bladder cancer, multiple authors have documented prostate cancer in patients with bladder cancer, however it has been considered of little relevance in this regard. In a French multicenter study, an incidence ranging from 14 to 60% is reported, being more frequent at older age and confined to the gland.

Materials and Methods: We present a case of prostate adenocarcinoma Gleason 8 (4+4) in a 70 year old patient, as an incidental finding in the histopathological report after radical cystoprostatectomy

Results: Surgery and histopathological reptor confirms the diagnosis.

Conclusions: The incidental finding of a synchronous tumor is variable, its clinical signigicance has not yet been defined, however, it is considered that patients undergoing radical cystoprostatectom shoudl be previously studied to rule out prostatic pathology. If the histopathological finding is positive, it should be included in your post-surgical follow-up and the biochemical recurrence should be evaluated.
