Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor (IMT) or Pseudosarcoma is a rare tumor with intermediate biological potential that poses difficulties in diagnosis and preoperative treatment. Initially described by Brunn (1939) as a Myofibroblastic tumor of the lung, is has been recognized as a benign, soft tissue tumor, commonly found in the orbit and lung 1. In the Urinary tract, the bladder is a frequent site of tumor presentation. It represents less than 1% of the bladder tumors2 with a low or undetermined potential for malignancy1. OBJECTIVE: Present a case of a 51-year-old male patient who underwent surgery for prostate hyperplasia with intraoperative discovery of an intravesical tumor, which has resected and subsequently reported by pathology as an Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor, considering its rare and benign nature, we present a case with a review of the current literature. CONCLUSION: TMI is a benign tumor of rare presentation with a low or indeterminate potential for malignancy, wich represents a challenge in its diagnosis and preoperative treatment.
